The Hard Truth About Achieving Anything
Instead, they exposed who I really was... And it was painful
Over the last few years, training for Spartan Races, HYROX, and other endurance challenges has forced me to confront things I spent most of my life avoiding: delayed gratification, failure, suffering, patience, self doubt, and the reality that you can't cheat the work.
In this video, I talk about the lessons endurance sports have taught me about life, personal growth, discipline, mental toughness, consistency, confidence, and pursuing long-term goals.
Some of the topics I cover:
• Why delayed gratification is harder than most people realize
• Learning to be bad at something and embracing failure
• Why you can't cheat the work required to achieve a goal
• The importance of patience and long-term thinking
• Why suffering is often part of meaningful growth
• The mental side of performance and resilience
• Finding a deeper reason to keep showing up when things get hard
Whether your goal is building a business, improving your fitness, growing a YouTube channel, running your first race, training for HYROX, competing in Spartan Races, or simply becoming a better version of yourself, these lessons apply far beyond endurance sports.
The older I get, the more I realize that success isn't about talent or motivation. It's about showing up consistently over an extended period of time, especially when you don't feel like it.
If you're on your own journey of self-improvement, personal development, fitness, running, endurance sports, discipline, mindset, and growth, I'd love to hear what lessons you've learned along the way.
