Best way of giving compost for plants 🪴
1️⃣ Check soil moisture first
Soil should be slightly moist, not fully dry
If soil is very dry → water lightly first, then add compost
2️⃣ Loosen the top soil (Very important ❗)
Gently loosen top 2–3 inches of soil
Do NOT disturb roots
This helps compost mix well and prevents root burn
3️⃣ Amount of compost (Do not overdose)
Small pots (8–10 inch) → 2–3 tablespoons
Medium pots (12–14 inch) → hand full
Large pots (16–18 inch) → 2 hands full
👉 Too much compost = root damage & excess heat.
4️⃣ Mix compost with soil
Mix compost with loosened soil, don’t leave it as a thick layer on top
This helps:
Better nutrient absorption
No fungal growth
No insects like ants & flies
5️⃣ Water properly after adding compost
Give light watering, not heavy
Water helps nutrients reach roots slowly
🌿 How Often to Give Compost?
Flowering plants → every 15 days
Leafy vegetables → every 10–12 days
Fruit plants → every 15–20 days
Succulents & cactus → once in 30–40 days.
