LIVE: 'Eritrea Has Never Threatened Ethiopia': Asmara Denies Tigray 'Invasion' | Firstpost Africa

Watch this report as Firstpost examines the growing tensions in the Horn of Africa, where landlocked Ethiopia and neighbouring Eritrea are trading serious accusations of military aggression. New Delhi has emerged as an unexpected diplomatic focal point after Ethiopia’s envoy revealed that border escalations with Eritrea formed a key part of discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his recent visit to Addis Ababa. This diplomatic friction follows claims of an unreported 60-kilometre Eritrean incursion into Ethiopian territory, which Ethiopia has raised directly with the UN Security Council in New York. As federal forces re-enter key towns in Tigray, including Mekelle and Adwa, Eritrea’s embassy in India has firmly rejected the invasion claims as baseless, accusing Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government of manufacturing external crises to deflect from internal challenges and fueling rhetoric regarding Red Sea port access, particularly Assab. Meanwhile, statements from a Tigrayan militia allege Eritrean forces briefly entered Tigray before withdrawing. Alyson Le Grange brings you the details on Firstpost Africa.
