China's Hua Chunying calls for joint efforts on food, energy and security as world faces turbulence

China has called for regional nations to work closer together to protect food and energy supplies, urged by its top diplomat, amid growing disruption from conflict in the Middle East. China’s vice FM’s remarks came at the 27th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which binds China, Japan and S. Korea with the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

She reiterated China's commitment to supporting ASEAN's central role while deepening cooperation across traditional and emerging sectors.

As each other's largest trading partners for six consecutive years, China and ASEAN saw bilateral trade top $1 trillion in 2025, driven by an upgraded free trade agreement.
