Bring Back That Leroy Brown - QUEEN | Mustang Bass & Vocal Cover [2026 Remastered] アーカイブ企画#2
クイーンのアルバム「Sheer Heart Attack」より「Bring Back That Leroy Brown(リロイブラウン)」をベースで弾き語りました。
この動画はもともと、2021年にラジオ番組「ディスカバークイーン」のコピバン選手権に応募するために録ったもので、その時の応募動画(アカペラバージョン)は、このチャンネル内にすでにアップしてありますが
没テイクとしてお蔵入りになったこの映像を先日発掘し、【2026年リマスター版】として蘇らせました。
Vocal Removerというアプリで本家の演奏からボーカルとベースラインを取り除いたマイナスツー音源を作成し、
ブライアンギター、ロジャードラム、フレディピアノの豪華な伴奏に合わせてムスタングベースを弾く、ちょっと我ながら贅沢な動画に生まれ変わりました。
しかも服装はジョンディーコンとお揃い風のもの(笑)。そんなことまで懐かしく思いだしました。
当時はまだライン録りではなく、アンプ前にマイクを置いただけのごく簡易的な録音方法でしたが、
5年も経ってまさか、DAW作業に悪戦苦闘しながらこうしてリメイクするとは自分でも思ってませんでした。
音楽一色な生活が始まった頃の懐かしい思い出と向き合いながら、タイムカプセルを紐解くひとときとなりました。
YouTubeに定期投稿するようになったのは、この動画のすぐ後のことでした。
ラジオ番組内にて応募動画をオンエア紹介されたことが、私の背中を押してくれたのだと思います。

From QUEEN's Sheer Heart Attack album, here's my bass and vocal cover of Bring Back That Leroy Brown.
This performance was originally recorded in 2021 for the "Discover QUEEN" radio show's cover band contest.
The original contest entry, featuring only bass and vocals, has already been uploaded on this channel. Recently, I rediscovered this unreleased video take and decided to bring it back as a 2026 Remastered Edition.
Using the Vocal Remover app, I created a backing track by removing the original vocals and bass from the studio recording. This remix now lets me play my Mustang Bass alongside Brian May's guitar, Roger Taylor's drums, and Freddie's piano. It almost feels like performing with QUEEN themselves.
As a fun little detail, I even happened to be wearing an outfit reminiscent of John Deacon's. Looking back now, that made me smile.
Back then, I was still recording in a very simple way with a microphone placed in front of my bass amp. I never imagined that five years later I'd be learning DAW editing and giving this old recording a completely new life. Revisiting this footage felt like opening a musical time capsule from the beginning of my journey.
Not long after making this video, I started uploading to YouTube on a regular basis. Having my contest entry introduced on the radio gave me the encouragement to keep going.
