🌿 Pot-in-Pot Method (Step by Step)
1️⃣ Take Two Pots:
Inner pot (plant pot): A pot with drainage holes.
Outer pot/container: A bigger pot, tub, or bucket without holes to hold water.
Example:
Inner pot: 10–12 inch pot
Outer pot: 16–20 inch tub or container
2️⃣ Fill Soil in Inner Pot:
garden soil 70%
Compost 30%
Avoid cocopeat or light potting .
Fill the pot 3/4 with soil mix.
3️⃣ Plant the Water Lily Rhizome or plant :
Place the water lily rhizome slightly at an angle.
The growing tip should face upward.
Cover lightly with soil.
4️⃣ Add a Top Layer:
Add a thin layer of sand or small stones on top of the soil.
This prevents soil from floating when water is added.
5️⃣ Place Pot Inside Water Container:
Put the planted pot inside the bigger water container.
6️⃣ Fill Water
Slowly fill water in the outer container.
Water level should be 5–10 cm above the soil initially.
Once the plant grows, maintain 20–30 cm water depth.
7️⃣ Sunlight
Keep the container where it gets 6–8 hours of direct sunlight ☀️.
Sunlight is very important for flowering.
8️⃣ Maintenance
Remove old leaves regularly.
Add compost monthly once by wrapping in cloth.
Maintain water level.
