Animal Control Training: Handling Animals Not Commonly Seen in Massachusetts

Animal Control Officer Jody Gay recently completed specialized training with Rainforest Reptile Shows Inc. in Beverly, led by herpetologist and general curator Michael K. Rabovsky. During the training, she worked with a variety of animals not typically encountered here in Massachusetts — including reptiles and birds.
Animal Control Officers receive ongoing training to prepare for all types of situations they may encounter, especially during the busy summer months. This hands-on experience helps ensure they’re ready to respond safely and effectively, no matter the animal.
